Nkradi for SATB chorus was composed in November 1933 for the composer’s farewell concert at the Presbyterian Training College in Akropong, and is one of Amu’s secular songs. The text is based on the words of the traditional atumpan (talking drum) expression: Absomaketerɛ nam brɛbrɛ, ɔde brɛbrɛ bɛkɔ de ‘ofiri which translates into English as “the chameleon walks slowly (or patiently), [and] he will arrive safely at his destination.”
