Historical Background

Ɛnnyɛ yɛn Nyame for SATB chorus was composed in 1931, and is one of Amu’s sacred songs. “It was composed for the consecration of the fifth year theological students of the Presbyterian Training College, Akropong. The theme is based on Psalm 115:1 and celebrates God from whom everything, including humankind, derives and owes its existence” (Philip T. Laryea. Ephraim Amu: Nationalist, Poet and Theologian, p. 57). (PL)
