Animia for SATB chorus is undated, but it was composed in the period from 1926 to 1933 as it is included in TFAS. Rev. Laryea offers that it is possible Amu had the Twi proverb ‘Ɔbra yɛ ɔko,’ which translates into English as “Life is a battle” in mind when he wrote this song (Philip T. Laryea. Ephraim Amu: Nationalist, Poet and Theologian, p. 67). (MA)
